72 Hour Load Bearing Equipment 2/3

In this series I will show you a modified version of the US issue LC-2 LBE (load bearing equipment). This system is specifically setup as a 72 hour survival kit to be used as is without the addition of a backpack. This system is designed to be survival / evasion type gear, NOT a traditional tactical type system. This kit is more of a bare bones kit mainly consisting of essentials to support one person for 1 to 3 days on the move. It is designed to be a lightweight, mobile, and adaptable solution to carrying essential gear in the field. This system is also a perfect setup for day hiking. Video 2 of 3.

    uggg… I don’t …
uggg… I don’t really like guns, is it absolutely neccasary to get one? I just am not a very violent person against other humans. ( I don’t want to hear ” you’re gonna have to defend yourself ” ) I don’t plan on acting or being hostile, if someone during an emergency situation wants me to backoff, well I’m gone then I’ll just turn around and walk off. as for someone attacking me ( there is a knife… )

Be careful on what you eat. You need a lot of water to process power bar/ cliff bar type food. When moving quickly you also will burn twice the amount of calories. good video

Great stuff. I was wondering if you would think it a good idea to laminate your military survival manual, so you could read it in the rain? Also the map? If it is a bad idea in your opinion, please let me know why. Ty. 5/5. ~Kev~

    The great thing …
The great thing about this type of setup is you can easily sling a rifle over the suspenders vs a large backpack.
When it gets cooler out do you add on a poncho liner to this kit, or go with a full on pack instead? (I have a Wiggy’s poncho liner, it is very warm and pretty light, and very moisture resistant)
I’m trying to work out a LC-2 suspender and belt right now, but the suspenders itch!

I am not sure. I cannot remember where I got my copy. I have had it for quite some time. I believe you can download it from the internet and print it for free. Also, any army surplus store in your area should definitely carry it. Good luck!

  16. PackRat556 says:

    You could. I used …
You could. I used to use MRE’s all the time but I have lost my taste for them somewhat and they are not as readily available. They have also become very expensive as well about $8.00 per meal when I can find them in my area. This is an alternative that is much cheaper and is readily available from my local grocery store. I would recommend for people to use what they feel the most comfortable with, as both are good options. Thank you for watching and sharing this!

    what about instead …
what about instead of all tuna, rice, granola, and cliff bars….why dont you subsitute that for milatary MRE’s and cliff/granola bars as extras

Can you buy that book at any book store?

    Suggestion …
Suggestion regarding the snare wire you spoke of: Go to a sporting goods store fishing dept. & buy a 50′ roll of 50lb test braided wire & and matching ferrules. Now pre-fab various sized snares by simply cutting different lengths of wire & making loops on each end of the wire. Simply thread one end through the other & you have a slip loop. Secure the free end and you have a snare. I have 50 of them in my kit & they take no space. The more u use, the better your chance of eating din-din.

great vids ….. this kit could be put in a cheap duffel bag/stuff sack for an urban situation. i’m wanting to compress my edc and bob into a smaller system i can have with me all the time any suggestions?

  22. PackRat556 says:

    Sounds like good …
Sounds like good gear to have. I use my issue poncho and paracord to create my shelter. Hey, just an idea, use some ranger bands to attach your knife to the suspender in it’s regular sheath. You can buy them or make them. I have this done on my tactical setup. My knife is on my left shoulder inverted as you say, for easy access. (USMC Ka-Bar). I hope to post a short video on this soon.

    This might sound …
This might sound crazy but I put a brown tarp in my buttpack, mosquito net couple tough paperclips (ones that hold a bunch of papers together) and paracord in my buttpack to make a pup tent. I am currently looking for the MOLLE style knife holder that I can put on the left suspender where you have your compass. It is great to have that knife real close and off the hip. Great vids as always!
