Winston Churchill once said "Many forms of Government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." basically he’s saying that no system is perfect and that democracy is to put it simply the best of a bad bunch and I agree with him. I’ll give some examples of the failings of other government types. communism is bad because everyone is supposed to be equal but the leaders always use this system for personal gain a quote from the anti communist book animal farm states "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others" replace animals with people and you have the real communism. Facism has racist policies that encourage the thinking that there is a superior race e.g Nazi aryan ideas. Monarchism where there is 1 ruler is suceptable to corruption, injustice, oppression and it is used by a ruler for personal gain. Democracy makes a government which can often be weak and unable to make quick decisions this can prove to be the difference between survival and total destruction in war and other crisises. It also leads to beauracracy which leads to inneficiancy in government and red tape which impedes emergency services etc from doing their jobs. Also it can lead to extreme parties taking power (hitler was elected in a democratic system of proportional representation and look what happened). Also does everyone in a society really know enough about politics to vote and decide the future of a country?
There has not been and never will be a perfect form of government. It is however not really the systems that are flawed but man himself. Human nature will always stand in the way of a perfect form of government and society. But this is not a bad thing as differences in oppinion are an esential part of humanity and the world would truly be a worse place without it.
It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we’ve got.

I agree with GLi Labors, however most "Democratic" governments are actually a Representative Democracy where the people elect people to Represent them in the actual law making. Now that there is the internet there is a possibility that in the near future there will be a true Democracy where the individual citizens will actually vote on the making of laws.

In it’s current state it is far from perfect.
It needs change to become closer to perfection.
In it’s present state it allows big business to rule it.Most political parties are funded during election campaigns through private donations. Most of the corporations that donate to political parties do so for a reason. We have allowed far too much influence to go to people like Murdoch who have used that influence to further their goals and ambitions. In short they have used that influence to become richer. This in turn allows them to become even more powerful as our society believes money is the be all and end all.
Political parties should be funded by tax payers money. All parties that are running for office during an election should be given the exact same amount of money. This in turn would create a fairer system where the over riding influence of money is taken out of the equation.

Rational Anarchy is by far the best, unfortunately the average modern American is poorly suited to self sufficiency after being taught by our Liberal Socialist public education system. Anarchy requires extreme self discipline and rational thought. The idiots you see burning overturned cars and breaking store windows are not Anarchists, they are simple minded criminals. True Anarchists do not unite, assemble, and chant dogma.

All anarchy would be rational, and in a way we have an anarchical system now, particularly in International Relations, which works just fine. Anarchy just makes people think of chaos, so we need to dress it up for it to get popular support.
