Why do conservatives believe that the founding fathers established a perfect system when they themselves left?

room for improvement through the amendment process?

It seems that conservatives are always shooting down ideas that they think the "founding fathers" wouldn’t approve as if the founding fathers were perfect themselves. Newsflash: They lived in a different era.
@kathy

…Yeah… as system so perfect that you conservatives are now worried about the country… yes, what a perfect system we have, that it is not all prone to failure…
@Go ahead

While I believe the constitution was good for it’s time, I don’t believe it was perfect. I believe that the constitution fails miserably in many areas and would be better amended.
@ruth

From my perspective, the constitution was good but lacking.

What amazingly twisted thinking!

The very fact that the Founders recognized that the world would change and worked into the Constitution a process to change it demonstrates the PERFECTION of the system!

Edit:

"…as system so perfect that you conservatives are now worried about the country… yes, what a perfect system we have, that it is not all prone to failure…"

Again with the bizarre thinking… What we conservatives are worried about is socialist/marxists who are PURPOSEFULLY seeking to destroy the system. And if you get the right (or should I say "wrong") people in power, that’s completely possible. That’s why our system… which is the MOST perfect in the world (none are without weaknesses) is built on a 3-tiered checks and balances system… But the current administration is trying to circumvent that system for it’s own purposes.

Beware the enemy within. The American system has worked for well over 200 years… Why anyone would want to tear it down is beyond me.

    Not to mention their system included slavery, genocide and eventually led to a civil war.

    Who doesn’t love a self-cleaning document? Your post makes no sense. Humans are fallible, our founders knew this.

    Wouldn’t it be nice if libs would try to follow the US C, rather than criticizing us for trying.

    I can certainly tell you the founders never envisioned that libs would try to use the Article III Courts to usurp Congress. If they had, they would have clarified the role of the Court better.

    It’s funny to see you telling us they lived in a different era. But you want to bash modern conservatives that the framers had slaves.

    I don’t think it’s perfect, but I can promise there will be WAR before we let it be trashed or re-written by anyone today.

  8. Duct Tape Fixes All says:

    That’s how perfect it is! They knew that the laws they made may become obsolete or become a hinderance to freedom, so they gave us the amendment process to either tweak or abolish laws made back then.

    Too bad we don’t use that Amendment process.

    Changing the laws of the nation Should be hard. Not in the hands of a couple crazy people.

    You think Liberals could get any of their stuff passed as an amendment? Not a chance…

    And they seem to forget that the second amendment was written when the people WERE the nation’s military, and denying the people guns would mean no national security. We now have a national military, and yet conservatives still think that they meant for the people to keep guns because of national defense.

    Don’t know about you, but if it comes down to the Marines or Bubba and his drinking buddies with their shot guns, I am taking the Marines.

    Conservatives ARE all for the amendment process but Liberals are always trying to do things without amendments.
    Whenever Conservatives try to do something that isn’t in the Constitution they do it my the amendment process. Like repealing the income tax, the balanced budget amendment, even the line item veto (after the supreme court legislated it away). Conservatives never tried to do these without proposing a amendment. While Libs passed health care reform, social security and employee benefits without proposing any Constitutional amendments. Libs think the Constitution is out dated.

    Elinor Cliff said "Conservatives are trying to hide behind the Constitution". That perfectly shows what libs think of the Constitution.

    Fed up, the Constitution did not allow slavery. You perfectly demonstate the ignorance of libs. The only mention of slavery before abolition was in the counting of electoral votes, so slaves couldn’t be counted as a vote by slaveholders who wouldn’t allow them to vote. Slaves were considered as 3/4th of a person for voting only.
    but I guess you would rather the slaveholders have a bigger vote.

    vollyball chic. you need to stick to subjects you have some basic understanding. The military needs sharpshooters. You cant train someone to be a sharpshooter in 3 months of basic training. It takes being raised with guns. What business is it of your if someone want to collect guns anyway. Cars are far more dangerous.

    News Flash: Your kidding! Don’t you think anyone with a brain cell knows this!! You do!!

    Show me a better system and let’s run with that!

    From my prospective,the Constitution and Bill of Right has everything!! It’s not even the government that’s faulty, it’s the people in the government!!!
