    Stargate SG-1 [07x11] Evolution [I] (Part 4 of 4)

    Official website:
    http://stargate.mgm.com/view/series/1/index.html

    Original air date:
    2003.08.22

    FULL SUMMARY

On the rendezvous planet where the Goa’uld system lords Tilgath and Ramius were to forge an alliance, Teal’c and his mentor Bra’tac find the two armies slaughtered and Ramius gone. Ramius’ First Prime is still barely alive and warns them to leave immediately. But it’s too late — out of the distance, a tall, lone warrior in black body-armor comes forth shooting power blasts of tremendous magnitude from his wrist weapons. After a desperate firefight, the warrior finally falls. The body is brought back to Stargate Command, where Maj. Carter and her father Jacob/Selmak remove its armor and discover a huge but poorly detailed synthetic Goa’uld host with no evidence of trauma from energy blasts. The armor appears to be made of an energy-absorbing material. Teal’c and Bra’tac did not kill the warrior: It died of a heart attack, having been engineered for strength and not longevity. Selmak — the Tok’ra half of Jacob Carter’s symbiotic being — surmises that this was intended to be a synthetic Goa’uld foot soldier. Also, the being was only about three weeks old and was given life after it was fully grown. Its energy signature is similar to that of Goa’uld sarcophagi, which can heal and even restore life but are not able to bring life to things that were never alive in the first place. Selmak explains that thousands of years ago, a Goa’uld system lord named Telchak found a device created by the Ancients from which he was able to create the first sarcophagus. Telchak and fellow system lord Anubis went to war over the device, but Anubis never found it. The Tok’ra have long sought this original device in the hope of using it to perfect the sarcophagus technology. Now it might be the key to fighting this kind of warrior, by discovering how to reverse the device’s life-giving energy. Its healing power is also of great value. But where to find it? Dr. Daniel Jackson recalls that his grandfather, Nicholas Ballard, in his search for the fountain of youth, claimed he had found evidence indicating that the source of the fountain’s power was a piece of alien technology used by early Mayan tribes around 900 BC. Ballard traced its origin to Chac, the Mayan God of rain, who might have been Telchak. Much of Ballard’s notes are indecipherable because, as Selmak sees instantly, they are written in an obscure Goa’uld dialect. Jacob/Selmak deciphers the notes and surmises that the device might be in one of Telchak’s temples in Honduras. It is also surmised that Anubis, after he Ascended, had the knowledge to build one of these devices on his own. Bra’tac suggests that if Anubis is behind this, he is using these soldiers to wipe out the minor Goa’uld system lords and absorb their resources in preparation for battle with Ba’al and the other, stronger Goa’uld lords. Daniel and his assistant, Dr. Lee, go to Honduras. There they locate Telchak’s underground temple and find the device. But when they remove it from its resting place, a booby trap is sprung and they are almost drowned by tons of water. Miraculously, they escape. Meanwhile, Maj. Carter develops a plan to capture one of these new Goa’uld “superwarriors” alive in the hope that it can be interrogated and provide vital intelligence about how they can defeated. The armor absorbs energy blasts, but can be penetrated by a fine-tipped titanium dart filled with tranquilizer. Because Ramius escaped, it is likely that Anubis will send another soldier to his planet. SG-1 and SG-3 stake out the stargate on Ramius’ planet until the superwarrior appears. When he does, they trap him in a Tok’ra force field and shoot him with the darts — to no effect. He then easily penetrates the field and walks through a barrage of gunfire and explosives towards his target: Ramius’ pyramid. Meanwhile, Ramius’ numerous Jaffa troops block off the stargate and converge on SGC’s forces. Bra’tac suggests that they surrender. The warrior destroys Ramius and his Jaffa, and Col. O’Neill, Carter, Teal’c, Bra’tac and the SGC soldiers are snared in a Goa’uld cell. The last remaining free Jaffa liberates SG-1. O’Neill’s team finds the synthetic Goa’uld warrior and teleports him via Goa’uld rings into the hold of a cargo ship. Then they cut off all life support in that area until the soldier is knocked unconscious. Back at Stargate Command, the heavily chained warrior is hooked up to a Tok’ra imaging device that projects his thoughts. This enables the SGC team to learn where the superwarriors are being created. But they also learn something else — Gen. Hammond has received word from the State Department that Daniel and Dr. Lee have been kidnapped, and there are no clues as to where they are.

Linux HOWTO #3, Part 1: Anonymous Web Browsing with Tor

LINUX HOWTO 3rd installment, Part 1

Special thanks to Linux Journal (www.linuxjournal.com) for featuring one of my videos on their web site this week.

This is the third installment in a new series called Linux HOWTOS. Every week I will post a video explaining how to accomplish something using a GNU/Linux operating system. Please write requests for installments in the comments!

The internet is great for many things, but not privacy. Luckily, anonymity networks like Tor and proxy servers like Privoxy can give a certain level of privacy while online. They are not perfect, but they work very well. This video needed to be split into two parts because of the breadth of the material. The first part is simply about what Tor is and how it works. The second part contains step-by-step instructions for installing Tor and Privoxy on your GNU/Linux box.

If you have any questions, please ask in the comment field, and I or someone else will do our best to answer. Please avoid ‘RTFM’-style answers. They are not welcome. Also please post corrections if I mistakenly give some wrong information.

This video was created using only free and open source software tools: TightVNC, Open Office Impress, pyvnc2swf, ardour2, audacity, jackd, LAME, mjpegtools, and ffmpeg.

CIA Influence on the Mass Media: How Disinformation Campaigns Work (Part 1)

Posted by admin on June 20th, 2010 and filed under one perfect system | 8 Comments »

The White House National Security Council (NSC) in the United States is the principal forum used by the President for considering national security and foreign policy matters with his senior national security advisors and Cabinet officials and is part of the Executive Office of the President of the United States. Since its inception under President Harry S. Truman, the function of the Council has been to advise and assist the President on national security and foreign policies. The Council also serves as the President’s principal arm for coordinating these policies among various government agencies. The U.S. Council has counterparts in the national security councils of many other nations.

President Ford assumed office at a very tense time for both American foreign relations and domestic politics. America’s credibility in the world was imperiled by its humiliating withdrawal from Vietnam, and the war there was shortly to come to an end with the annexation of America’s ally South Vietnam by the North. In domestic politics, the scandal of Watergate had rocked the American political system and left widespread cynicism in the press and among the public about Washington. Ford, a conservative by nature, set out to preserve both Washington’s standing at home, and America’s abroad.

Ford’s room for maneuver in foreign policy was decidedly limited, given the constraints placed on him by domestic politics following the effective loss of the Vietnam War. Nor did Ford desire to bring about decisive change in this field, as he was not a man of Wilsonian vision. Hence, he kept Henry A. Kissinger as both Secretary of State and Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. ‘I need you,’ Ford told Kissinger. ‘The country needs you.’

This move was much criticized as Ford suffered from claims throughout his entire term that he was inexperienced in foreign affairs. Opponents of Kissinger claimed that the latter would be the dominant influence on Ford’s foreign policy, and his continuation in the dual roles was proof of this. In fact, Ford had accrued experience in foreign policy while serving on the Defence Appropriations Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, and had been a committed internationalist since his time serving in the Pacific in World War II. He was largely in agreement with Kissinger on the important issues of American foreign policy, which was mostly in a reactive mode for most of Ford’s tenure anyway.

Ford felt Kissinger was essential to provide continuity following the constitutional crisis of Watergate. Himself untarnished by the scandal, Kissinger was able to continue to serve his dual roles on the National Security Council. However, when Ford began to think about re-election in 1975, Kissinger quickly came to be seen as a political liability by the President Ford Committee, the group set up to seek Ford’s re-election in 1976. When Ford had taken power, it appeared that one key to his success would be building upon the foreign policy successes of President Nixon, his predecessor. But by mid-1975 these seemed to have unravelled, with South Vietnam annexed, the policy of détente with the Soviet Union undermined by the latter’s interventions in the Angolan Civil War and relations with China at a stand-still. Ford’s political advisors were clamouring for a change.

Hence, there was a Cabinet shakeup on November 3, 1975, and Ford named Lt. Gen. Brent Scowcroft, Kissinger’s deputy at the NSC, as National Security Advisor. This was largely a move for show. Scowcroft was the perfect neutral manager of the National Security Council, as he would be later under the first President Bush. He saw his job as to mediate between the various agencies represented at the Council and report the various policy options to the President. He managed a toned-down version of the Kissinger NSC system that was compatible with the Secretary of State’s role as the President’s chief foreign policy adviser. As such, this did not lead to any diminishing of Kissinger’s importance in actual terms, as Ford continued to have faith in his abilities and opinions.

The defining moment of crisis for the NSC during Ford’s tenure came during the Mayagüez incident. On May 12, 1975, Khmer Rouge forces seized the merchant ship SS Mayagüez and the National Security Council met to consider the American response. Transcripts of the meetings show Kissinger arguing for a forceful response and winning out, claiming that the U.S. had to present a strong front to the new Communist regimes in Indochina. Vice President Nelson Rockefeller argued that if the U.S. did not respond forcefully to this event, then it risked being ‘nibbled to death’ by a series of small affronts. There was no serious dissension within the NSC on this issue, and a rescue attempt was duly launched by U.S. Marines.

“Breaking Contact Actual 1″ by Nutnfancy and crew

Posted by admin on June 16th, 2010 and filed under one perfect system | 25 Comments »

Many of the tactical shooting videos you see are staged. They are practiced over and over again and then when things are perfected, the camera starts rolling. Not in Nutnfancy shooting videos. That’s because I am first and foremost a gear and systems reviewer and it’s interesting to show my viewers the actual tactical lessons that sometimes generate my conclusions. For instance when the EOTECH XP2-2 on my Arsenal SGL21 gets shut off (for whatever reason) and then needs to be used instantly in a bright, snowy environment under stress, it comes back on at mid-brightness level that looks invisible under the conditions. That caused confusion for me and delay problems…you’ll see that happen! You’ll see the misses, the hits, the lessons learned, the tiredness, the fun times, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Armchair Elitists (AEs) sometimes will weigh in on the comments and strive to gain cool points from the viewers by their often inane observations. Go and check out their videos to ascertain their; most are disconnected from the reality of this type of shooting and their performance in desert with us would be abysmal. There are definitely better shooters (3-guys that are very practiced) but Ive learned talk is cheap and I’ve seen lots of guys who talked big ending up with the lowest scores (usually plays out that way). Also keep in mind this was not a suppressive fire exercise but instead players were graded on their SPEED and ACCURACY against diverse targets ranging from 22 to 120 yards. Any fool can shoot fast and MISS. There was no credit given for that! Another important point: NO were points awarded for perfect teamwork either. We worked on it with the very limited amount of time we had to setup AND run this complex drill but it was not scored (maybe later). And if AEs criticize the “holes in shooting coverage,” again they don’t know what they’re talking about: each rifle mag only had 15 rounds in order to force reloads (very rounds limited at 45 total) AND again accuracy and speed was paramount to get a good score. In this scenario, if you spent time perfecting your leapfrog and shooting coverage then you’d lose, it’s that simple. Also this wasn’t really intended to be a leapfrog scenario anyhow; just some stressed shooting in teams. Shooting positions were up to the runner and because there was so much sage brush, no one went prone. Future Nutnfancy drills integrate use of the “TNP Barricades” I built. Safety was heavily emphasized and enforced as realistically as possible. We found hitting from the vehicle with pistol against 22 yard 8 plate was tougher than expected (try it under stress sometime!). Scores improved throughout the day and I even managed to start running the AK system with better speed (and made my share of mistakes in the reloads). But here’s a reality check: super fast reloads are overrated and I say they don’t count for much (other than YouTube intrigue) except in real competitions (like 3-gun, IDPA, IPSC, etc). Getting rounds ACTUALLY in the kill zone as fast is possible is what counts and everything else is adjunct to that goal. Under the stressed and timed engagements, the Arsenal SGL21 in 7.62×39mm won the day in accuracy as shown (and reliability too not one jam even when with a snow-packed mag slammed in there…some ARs like Ghost’s and Brian’s had problems; many variables of course). Though not optimal with the the high mounted XPS2-2, it was fun to run and proved to be a deadly platform in this “Breaking Contact” scenario. Lots of running, lots of yelling (and instructing at times), lots of shooting, and some interesting data points drawn that will as always be refenced in my tabletop gear reviews. ////////////////////////////////////////////// Music: http://www.archive.org/details/Torley_Wong_-_The_Final_Selection ///////////////////////////////////// Guns represented included Nutnfancy with Arsenal SGL21-72 and S&W M&P9, DrHeckles with custom-build RRA/YHM,Young Machine AR-15 and XDm45, GhostOfPain1 with S&W M&P15 and H&H45, ArmedSerenity with Bushmaster AR-15 and H&K USP 45 full size, and Brian N. with modded Rocker River “Entry Tactical” AR-15 and XDm40 (had a few issues with it).

MLM Leads Network Marketing Leads Sponsoring Online with Sponsor Daddy

Posted by admin on June 12th, 2010 and filed under one perfect system | 25 Comments »

    http://www.SponsoringOnline.com

Sponsor Daddy is a new Internet and Email Marketing System. It is simple to use and explain and very replicable. It is what you need to keep your down line going strong. It will free up a lot of your time now spent marketing in other ways. How does it work and what does it do?

It depends on what you intend it to do. When you join you receive two duplicate websites. One that offers the Sponsor Daddy System to others and one that allows you to offer up to three of your current income opportunities. Let’s say you are already involved in Internet Network Marketing and you are offering people an opportunity to join your Health or Beverage Products.Company.

You would send your prospects to your SponsorDaddy website link. As a member their System will automatically send out emails to 10K opt in leads, people who are interested in joining an income opportunity online. It then follows up on your leads and any prospects and attempts to convert them to sales. So is it just an auto responder service? No.

The first page of the website explains the benefits of joining a home based business, perhaps breaking down any prejudice someone may have against network marketing. It then directs people to you as a potential sponsor and works to build a relationship for you with the prospect. It then works to encourage the prospect to consider your Opportunity or Product. As far as I know, Sponsor Daddy is the first complete system that merges the explanation of the home based industry in general with an automated prospecting and follow up system.

In addition to this, The Sponsor Daddy Marketing System also attempts to interest prospects in itself. The specific site they use for this is SponsorDaddy. This is basically the same website, however, it directs prospects to joining Sponsor Daddy as a business or income opportunity as compared to directing them to your number one income opportunity.

Sponsor Daddy makes it possible for you to earn back your inital Enrollment fee by sponsoring four new members into the program. It also makes it possible for you to earn as much as $10K per week through their Binary Compensation Plan. Obviously, at some point you could potentially earn enough to pay for your monthly plan, thus making the whole system free. The key to this possibility is whether the whole System works. Does it?

As a new member, I can’t say right now. However, as the system is implemented, I will add to this article and answer that question. Will it work? In my opinion, I believe it will. This system is the work of experience. As the site says, Sponsor Daddy is where tradition meets innovation.

What advantage is there to this Marketing Program over others I’ve used? It saves you valuable time. It also puts all your leads and prospects in one single source. It also sends out messages to the leads that come with the system or through the monthly plan (starting at $25.00) that you become a part of. In other words, you join and let the system do most of the work.

This System is especially easy and beneficial for new networkers who don’t know how to use an auto responder, don’t know how to write sales letters, don’t know how to do spam compliant email marketing and probably can’t afford all the built in features separately. What are these?

Video emails, live actors, lead capture pages, tracking and movies. The trends and introduction to Sponsor Daddy clearly explains that this System utilizes all the key ingredients for Marketing through Social Networking and Videos which is the current trend on the Internet. After all, it doesn’t matter if you have the greatest product on earth if no one hears about it or you. Marketing is the key to your financial future. Sponsor Daddy can be your ticket to make it happen.

Why does one have to be a psychic to predict the consequences of drilling?

As somebody said? We’d had plenty of spills before. Anyone who knows anything about engineering knows that when someone tells you a system is too perfect to fail, they’re full of it. Remember Three Mile Island?

No real engineer that actually engineers systems that need to operate in the environment will every tell his supervisor that a system will not fail

Now a non-engineer supervisor may sell it to the pubic as being 100% reliable but there is always a risk of failure

We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth’s climate.

The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being.

For this purpose, HOME needs to be free. A patron, the PPR Group, made this possible. EuropaCorp, the distributor, also pledged not to make any profit because Home is a non-profit film.

HOME has been made for you : share it! And act for the planet.
