Shouldn’t Health care be the least you should expect to get from your country. I mean the NHS isn’t perfect but its a great system.
Its mainly just because it reminds people of socialism. People want the freedom to decide for themselves and not be forced to do certain things… plus there is all the spending that will go into it. And no one is really able to understand the actual bill. Those are some of the reasons. Hope that helps

We should only expect the government to do things that the individual cannot do.
We can buy our own insurance. The government doesn’t need to do it for us.
And why we oppose it is simple.
It will make health care more expensive for the vast majority of Americans, while giving them absolutely no benefit.

I believe you meant to say, "you should expect to get the least health care from your country".
Good point.

During the cold war the Americans went daft with propaganda to make everyone think that communism was evil so that they could make them hate the Russians. The legacy of this is that US citizens are still very touchy about any sort of ‘welfare state’ program that could interfere with their nationalistic tendencies.

You cannot understand this from a UK perspective.
This is an example in a "democracy" where two powerful blocks have come to loggerheads and the ripping off of the tax revenue was not able to be split between them in behind closed doors discussions.
This is an argument between Pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies.
The Pharmaceutical companies have realised that if the government pays for every ones health care then they will in effect sell many more of their drugs.
The insurance companies see this bill as a reduction in their revenue as less people will now take insurance.
What you are seeing with the public protests is the propaganda machines of the respective blocks working as they should – to influence opinion.

Don’t know, but it is new and frightening. If you don’t want to use healthcare you don’t have to, if you have the money go private. It is aimed at those without, so they can get healthcare. No the NHS is not perfect but it does a great job.

The problem with this bill is that by in large its going to increase the cost of health insurance for most people. Not to mention higher taxes for most. The people who will now get insurance for free don’t pay taxes anyway so it doesn’t bother them. The people in the middle class will have to pay more in taxes for the have nots. Well us middle class people work our tails off to get where we are and don’t like to spend the small amount of money we have on other people. The luxury taxes have already started. Yesterday the first tax increase of the bill began. There was a 10% tax placed on tanning at tanning salons. That’s one of the hidden taxes. how many more are there in there. The bill is close to 3000 pages and nobody has read the whole thing but saw fit to vote on it. The health care bill could have been about 5 pages and do alot more to actually help the people and not cost hardly anything at all. This monster is more about control than anything. In 10 years we will be lucky if there is an insurance company left in america.
