Don Sullivan’s Perfect Dog system? Shock collar?

Whats with the collar?
Does that cause discomfort, or pain to dogs?
o.o

Did this system work for you?

Thank you!

Yes, shock collars hurt.
Generally, there are different settings from "Walking on carpet in socks then shocking someone" to "OMG, am I on fire?"

When used correctly, the pain teaches the dog to avoid the things/behaviors that caused it pain.

Shock collars should only be used in extreme situations, and to correct a specific behavior. Example: cat killing. If you want your dog to quit killing cats, get him a shock collar and everytime he looks at a cat, zap him.

Positive reinforcement, and setting boundaries work far better than shock collars.

Don Sullivan’s system teaches mother methods and only uses a shock collar in extreme cases. If you have done everything else and can’t control your dog, you probably should send him to a professional.
