What would be the best replecement for our calendar?

Today we’re splitting the atom and traveling to space, but we still use a calendar from thousands of years ago. Arbitrary months split into arbitrary days, with arbitrarily-chosen leap years to compensate for its inaccuracy…

What would be the perfect system to replace our calendar that would combine extreme accuracy with ease of use, so that we wouldn’t start running into problems again for at least a few thousand more years?
I don’t want any leap years or leap minutes, and it shouldn’t be necessary to have a college math background to figure out the date. This is tougher than it might sound because the day simply doesn’t factor evenly into the year. Having our current insane calendar ingrained into our heads from birth doesn’t make it any easier, either. :(

  2. There is no replacement of a Calendar. It breaks the time in months, weeks and days which are easily identifiable by all and sundry.
