Hello, this is a video about the carkit that i made for my iPhone. First I show you how it works, then I will tell you wich products I have used.
I will also tell you why I think that this is the best solution when it comes to integrating your iPhone possibilities into your car.

You can search a …
You can search a song by artist, title, album and you can use the 1-6 keys to go to a certain point in the searchlist. I admit that it would be easier to use the iPhone’s interface, but this option will do.
I have the phone mostly just in ‘shuffle’ position, or the ‘recently added’ playlist. Doesn’t bother me. I don’t like aux-cables hanging around though.

The Alpine Radio cost me 300 euro’s, the carkit 99 euro.
But I bet there are currently cheaper versions around. Alpine doesn’t make this headunit anymore.

You’re absolutely right. The problem is, that the iPhone doesn’t allow you to use the iPod-function when it is connected to the dock.
You get the ‘accessory attached’ message, and then you have to use the stereo. The (only) big disadvantage of the setup, I think.

Hey, thats the phone-console of the BMW. It doesn’t fit in any other model than the E36.
I’m sure many other car brands have specific phone-consoles for their cars, a dealer will always be able to give you an answer on that

For this vid I used the 2G iPhone, but I have been using the 3G with this carkit for a couple of months now.
This kit gets charged by 12v from the cigarette lighter, but it would work with just the headunit-connecter.
If you would experience that your headunit doesn’t charge the kit, you can then still get power from the 12v connection.
